Who doesn’t love the 4th of July! Besides my Dad’s dog and probably other cute, 4-legged critters out there, I can’t think of one person! When I think about the 4th of July I think of Strawberries and Watermelon and the delicious smell of brats, burgers, and hot dogs on the grill… and of course those gorgeous fireworks! As beautiful as they are there is an alarming amount of house fires each year due to accidents with fireworks. When doing research for this blog, I found that 20,000 fires annually are blamed on fireworks… shocking I know! Sparklers came in #1 for the most dangerous cause of fires and injuries. I also found out that most home insurance policies usually do not cover fire or smoke damage from accidents with illegal fireworks, which makes sense to make sure you know your state laws on fireworks.

Before you stock up on all sorts of firecrackers and bottle rockets know your local laws and regulations on when, where, and what you may legally light off. Another very important fact to remember is Alcohol and fireworks do not mix. Have a “designated shooter”!
